The Flying Spaghetti Monster Commission Continues: Design Revisions and Glass Cutting

Welcome back to The Scrolls of Geek Orthodox, where we continue our behind-the-scenes journey of creating a custom Pastafarian stained glass piece. In our previous post, we shared the initial sketches and concept development. Today, we're moving forward with design revisions and the beginning of the glass cutting process.

Client Feedback and Design Evolution

Initial Pastafarian stained glass design sketch showing larger supplicant figure with Flying Spaghetti Monster

After reviewing the initial composition with our Kentucky client, we made an important design adjustment. The original design (left) placed too much emphasis on the supplicant figure rather than highlighting the majestic presence of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. In response, we reduced the size of the human figure and modified our color palette to create a more hierarchical design that properly showcases the noodly divinity.

From Pattern to Glass Cutting

Revised Pastafarian stained glass design with smaller supplicant figure and more prominent Flying Spaghetti Monster

With the design finalized and approved, it was time to transfer our pattern to glass. The images above show the final glass pattern and the beginning of the intricate cutting process. As you might imagine, the noodle-y appendages of the Flying Spaghetti Monster present quite a challenge when cutting glass pieces! Each curved element requires careful scoring and breaking to maintain the organic flow that's essential to capturing the essence of His Noodly Appendage.
